Following a $120 million management buyout from Pearl Abyss, primarily including $20 million paid in cryptocurrency, the Icelandic developer behind EVE Online has officially changed its name to Fenris Creations.
- CCP Games has officially changed its name to Fenris Creations to eliminate international brand confusion regarding the previous acronym.
- The studio has entered into a strategic partnership with Google DeepMind to use EVE Online as a testing ground for advanced AI models.
- EVE Online’s gameplay and pricing remain unchanged, with the game continuing its free-to-play model on PC and macOS.
The transition from CCP to Fenris Creations marks a significant operational change for the Icelandic developer, securing its independence with no plans for layoffs or studio closures.
In addition to rebranding, the studio also has a strategic research partnership with Google DeepMind. As part of this collaboration, Google has acquired a minority stake in the developer and will use a special offline version of EVE Online running on local servers to test and evaluate advanced artificial intelligence models.
Meanwhile, EVE Online continues its standard live service operations strictly on PC and macOS, maintaining a steady daily peak of more than 6,000 concurrent players on Steam after a record-breaking revenue year.
Why Did the EVE Online Developer Change Its Name?
Fenris Creations replaced the CCP Games name primarily to eliminate global brand confusion and international travel complications.
The original acronym shares its identity with the Chinese Communist Party, creating logistical obstacles for executives during global operations.
This shift focuses solely on corporate identity and does not change the fundamental EVE Online gaming experience.
According to the developer’s official statement, this transition allows the studio to distance itself from unwanted political associations.
While the legacy of the “Crowd Control Productions” moniker remains part of their history, the Fenris name aligns with the studio’s Nordic roots and future creative direction.
How Does Fenris Creations’ Rebrand Impact Gaming?
The brand change to Fenris Creations has no immediate impact on EVE Online’s gameplay, pricing, or supported platforms. The game continues to operate as a free-to-play title on Windows PC and macOS.
The existing server infrastructure, player accounts, and current development roadmap remain unchanged under the new company banner.
Stability remains a priority for the new entity. Data from SteamDB shows that the player base has remained consistent throughout the administrative transition.
What does the future hold for Fenris Creations’ operations?
Fenris Creations remains focused on the long-term expansion of the EVE universe under the supervision of Pearl Abyss.
The finalization of the company structure represents a period of operational calm, intended to reassure the community that the core tenets of the EVE experience are safe for the future.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
