Xbox Game Pass Premium Gets 2 New Games Today
Yesterday’s wave 2 announcement, while not covering much of the first day (in fact, just one day with Nova Roma), was packed with amazing games. And two of them were added to the Premium tier today.
Ultimate and PC Game Pass members have been enjoying South of Midnight and The Alters since launch, which was a day one addition to the service. And after almost a year of waiting, Premium members can finally experience two very solid narratives.
2025 is a great year for releases and both managed to gain attention. So much so that they also received several nominations at various events including The Game Awards. These are two different games but both offer an experience worth your time.
South of Midnight isn’t great at combat as it’s quite repetitive, but almost every aspect of the game, be it story, visuals, music, everything is on point. There is a feature where you can turn off combat completely, but perhaps before doing so, you could also try changing it to make it more difficult. Make the most of everything!
As for The Alters, the premise is also amazing. While many people enjoy it, it may also be underrated for what it is. The mysteries, the time distortions, the anomalies, everything about it will keep you engaged. Don’t be fooled by the cover art (sorry to those who like it!).
South of Midnight takes you into a haunting alternate history England in the wake of the Windscale disaster, where the once peaceful countryside has collapsed into a lawless and dangerous wasteland filled with hostile survivors and terrifying, unexplained phenomena. As you explore ruined villages, abandoned bunkers, caves, and the scattered remains of civilization, you’ll have to scavenge for essential supplies and resources to craft equipment, weapons, and the essentials for survival. Combat is tense and intense, combining firearms with improvised weapons and brutal hand-to-hand combat, all while managing stamina and accuracy under pressure.
The Alters throws you back into the beautifully twisting world of Random, where you follow Queen Aleksandra on a frantic, fate-defying journey through a surreal realm shaped by an ancient evil. With his trusty companion, Fortune, by his side, he fights against incredible monsters and forgotten magic using a mix of four different weapons, powerful card abilities, and relic-based upgrades that allow you to build a very different playstyle. Every encounter feels unpredictable thanks to Fortune’s dice rolls, while the game is layered with deep customization through over 100 relics and 15 card powers, all leading up to intense fights against demanding world bosses.
